The WPS Genetics - Agronomy scientists will offer some very advantageous services. They will determine the best Hemp seeds to match a farmer’s specific soil make-up they will design and grow new Hemp Cultivars. Matching the best Hemp seed with a farmer’s soil will increase the yield in that farmers crop.
-
Designing and growing new Hemp Cultivars will not only produce more robust and better yielding Hemp plants but will also produce new Hemp Cultivars which can produce more of certain important Cannabinoids that are currently present in very low amounts.
-
The work the WHS scientists will provide will allow the WHS Formulation scientists to use some of the uncommon or even rare Cannabinoids in formulation research. This will enable new and valuable scientific formulation discoveries.
-
Agronomists are specialists in crop science, soil science and ecology. They can determine ways how to naturally control weeds, insects, fungi and other crop pests. They can achieve this while protecting and conserving the environment. The WHS scientists will look at this agriculture from an integrative and holistic perspective.
-
Some of the scientific assets the WHS scientists have at their disposal include not only state-of-the -art scientific equipment, but they also have a customized greenhouse and 26 organic acres of land on the WHS Campus. The greenhouse offers them the year-round advantage of growing new Hemp varietals they create in their lab. In doing so, these scientists can constantly control an environment to expose their plants to their precise requirements.
-
Once it has been determined certain varietals have reached the next phase of testing, the WHS scientists will prepare to plant them on the WHS Campus organic growing plots outside the greenhouse. This phase provides the scientists with the ability to determine how certain Hemp cultivars might respond when planted in a farmer’s field. The feedback will allow for cultivar advancements in the Lab and in the greenhouse.

Wisconsin Hemp Sciences, LLC agronomists will look at:
-
properties of the soil
-
how the soil interacts with the growing crop
-
what nutrients the crop needs
-
when and how to apply these nutrients
-
how climate will affect the crop
-
how best to control weeds, insects, fungi and other crop pests

-
Genetically designing new cultivars (hemp plant varietals) to produce more of the currently used cannabinoids and design new cultivars.
-
The WHS greenhouse will provide a facility for scientists to work on designing, growing, and studying the new cultivars. These cultivars will be invaluable in enhancing plant cannabinoid output, and there will be cultivars designed which produce far more of certain desirable cannabinoids which are not plentiful in any of today’s plants.
-
The test plots are a valuable resource for soil textures, moisture adjustments, and monitoring nutrient levels. These tests will aid our hemp growers in having optimum field conditions for growing our CBD hemp crop.
